Operating Instructions

 To Record what you are Watching: Push the red button on the lower left side of the remote. The word “Recording” will briefly appear on the lower left hand side of your TV screen to let you know you are recording. The recording will stop when the program is over, you push the stop button, or you change the channel. If you try to change the channel a message will appear telling you this action will stop the current recording. To change the channel, press “Continue”. To continue Recording, press “Cancel”. At this time, you will not be able to watch one channel while recording another.

To Record a program at a later time or date: Push the “Guide” button on the remote control. Using the navigation keys, scroll to the program you want to record. Once you have the program highlighted, press the “Select” button. This will bring up a screen with different options you can choose.
            The first screen will give you the options to Record Program-Watch Channel-Reminders or Cancel. If you choose Record, the following options will appear.

Option 1- This gives you the option of starting the recorder a set amount of minutes before the program begins.
Option 2- This gives you the option of continuing to record after your program is over.
Option 3- This gives you the option of the priority of your recording. The options are High-Medium-Low. Your recorder has 5 hours of record time. After 5 hours time is used, the recorder will begin recording over what you have previously recorded. It will record over your Low priorities first, then the Medium, then the High.
Option 4- This will give you the option of not letting your system ever record over a specific recorded program. 

After you have set all of your options, highlight  “Save and Exit”, then press “Select”. You have now set up your system to record your selected program. To return to Live TV simply press the EXIT button on the remote.

Watching what you have recorded: Push the button on the lower left side of the remote labeled “Record It”. This will bring up a menu that says “Library” and “Schedule”. The “Library” contains all of the programs that you have recorded. Using the navigation keys, highlight the program you wish to watch and press “Select”. You will then be given the option of either playing the recording or deleting it. Highlight the option you would like and press “Select”. This will begin the playback of your program. You may fast forward or rewind the recording at any time. Just use the fast forward button >> or the rewind button << These both work in 10 second intervals. By pressing the navigation key to the right of the “Select” key you can fast forward at 30 second intervals. You will not be able to watch your program during either one of these functions (the screen will go dark during FF or rewind. When your program is finished simply press the EXIT button to return to Live TV.

• To pause the TV push the button marked “ | | “ This will pause the program for up to 60 minutes.
  
• When you want to resume watching, just press the button again.
  
• To fast forward, use the button with the two arrows pointed to the right of the remote control. The fast forward feature forward in 10 second intervals.
  
• To rewind use the button with two arrows pointed to the left of the remote control. The rewind also does so in 10 second intervals.
  
• To go back to real time, just push the DTV button. This will return you to the program you were watching.
  
• If at anytime during playback the channel is changed, the recorder will stop, and the feature is turned off.

The Program Guide in now color coding to make it easier to find a program you are looking for. The color codes are listed below, but are also listed under the Help menu on the remote. Just press Help, then DTV, and scroll down to the colors. These are the color codes and the programming associated with them:

Color Codes:

• Light Green/Blue: Normal Programming
  
• Dark Green: No Info Available
  
• Dark Gray: Unsubscribed Channel
  
• Dark Blue: (System) Movies, Promos, Search
  
• Red: Sports
  
• Light Green: News
  
• Light Blue: Children’s
  
• Purple: Movies

Remember if you have questions about any of our features, most of them can be found under the Help menu. Just press the Help key and scroll down to the feature you are looking for.

To access Parental Controls:

• Press Menu
  
• Scroll down to Settings
  
• Highlight Parental Controls and press Select
  
• It will ask you for a Pin Number. Default is set at 9999, unless you have changed it.
  
• This will give you the option of controlling the programming by rating or to actually hide channels.

To Hide Channels:

• Scroll down to Edit, and press select
  
• Scroll and highlight the channels you want to “Hide”
  
• Press the Select key on each channel you want to remove. The highlighted button will now say “Off”.
  
• After selecting channels to be hidden, highlight the “Save & Exit” and press select.
  
• The channels you have chosen (changed to Off) will no longer be shown on the Guide and can not be seen until you go back into the Parental Controls and turn them ON.

You can now set your TV to remind you of a program you want to watch. For example: Monday night you see a preview of a program that is gong to be shown at 8:00pm on Tuesday night. You don’t want to miss it, so you need a reminder. To access the Reminder feature:

• Push Guide
• Using the arrows in the middle of the remote, scan ahead to Tuesday night at 8:00, and highlight your program.
• Press the Select Key
• The screen will give you the option of Reminder.
• Highlight the Reminder, and press Select.
• You will then be given the option to auto tune to the channel when it starts.
• It will also give you an option where you can set up how many minutes before the program starts you want the channel changed.
• Set the reminder of your choice, then go back to Save and Exit and press the Select key.

You have now set up your system to automatically tune to that channel when the program begins.

If you subscribe to Caller ID on your home phone, you will also receive it on your Television with DITV. If for any reason you don't receive Caller ID on your TV, check the following screen:

• Push Menu
• Scroll down to Phone
• Highlight Caller ID Settings and press Select
• Make sure the option "Enable Caller ID Feature" is marked "YES"
• If it isn't, highlight the YES key, and press Select.
• If you have the Caller ID on your screen and want to turn it off, you may do so by highlighting the NO key and pressing Select.

If this doesn't fix the problem, you will need to call our office for assistance.

You will also be able to have just the caller's number revealed and not the name if you would like, all in the same menu screen. You will also be able to set up a custom list of callers if you like. Using this feature, only the names on your custom list will show up on your TV screen. To set up a custom list:

• Push Menu
• Scroll down to Phone
• Highlight Caller ID List and press Select
• Highlight 'ADD NEW' and press Select
• This will bring up a screen with letters and numbers.
• Using the letters, highlight each letter of the person you are putting into your custom list. After each letter is chosen, press the Select key to add it.
• After completing the name, highlight the DONE key, and press Select
• This will bring up another screen with numbers
• Put the phone number associated with the name you have previously entered here, including Area Code.
• For each person you add, just repeat the process.
• After you have completed your list, just mark the box 'Display Only Custom List' in the Phone Menu.

You can now actually make FIVE different Channel Guides, or as we call them, Favorites. To create your own personal Program Guide:

• Press MENU
• Scroll down to Settings
• Highlight Favorites and press Select
• Highlight NEW, and press Select
• This will bring up a screen with numbers and letters.
• Using the buttons around the Select key you can name your favorite. This can be a number, your name, etc.
• After you have entered the Title of your favorite, highlight the DONE key, and press Select
• You will then be returned to the screen listing the channels
• Scroll through the channels, pressing the Select key on each channel you DO NOT want in your favorite channel list
• This will change the setting from ON to OFF
• After completing your list of channels you want removed, highlight the Save and Exit button and press Select.

You have now completed making your Favorites list. Press the Exit key to return to programming. To access "Your Guide"":

• Press Guide Button
• At the bottom left you will see Guide Subscriber. This is the guide with all the channels listed
• Continue pushing the Guide button until the name you entered is displayed.

You now have access to your personal or your Favorite Guide. To create another Favorites list for someone else, just follow the directions again to add someone else's Favorites!
